County’s Workforce Entry and Economic Growth Initiative
The County of San Mateo is seeking a qualified contractor to design, implement, and administer a Workforce Entry and Economic Growth Initiative pilot program. This program is intended to address barriers faced by recent graduates and certificate holders entering the workforce by subsidizing early wages for new full-time hires. The initiative focuses on supporting small and medium-sized private sector businesses within the County by providing financial incentives to hire entry-level employees into career-track positions. The selected contractor will be responsible for developing program guidelines, conducting outreach to employers and educational institutions, managing application and eligibility verification processes, and overseeing subsidy distribution and compliance. The program aims to create approximately 200 new jobs while ensuring accountability through reporting, monitoring, and retention requirements. This effort aligns with the County’s broader economic development goals and commitment to workforce advancement.
