The City of Seattle is soliciting proposals from qualified consulting firms to perform annual financial audits for Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) over a seven-year period from 2026 to 2032. The scope of work includes auditing financial statements for SPU’s Water Fund, Solid Waste Fund, and Drainage and Wastewater Fund in accordance with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards. In addition to financial audits, the selected consultant will conduct annual information technology audits of key financial systems, review agreed-upon procedures related to wholesale contracts, and perform a one-time audit of the Ship Canal Water Quality Project joint agreement. The consultant will also provide analytical reviews, internal control assessments, and issue audit reports and management recommendations. The engagement aims to ensure financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and transparency in SPU’s operations while supporting long-term financial planning and accountability.
