The City of Port Angeles is seeking qualified professional consulting firms to conduct an Urban Tree Canopy Assessment and Stream Assessment to support environmental sustainability, salmon recovery, and stormwater management efforts. The project will establish a baseline of current tree canopy coverage, analyze land cover distribution, and generate GIS datasets compatible with the City’s systems. The selected consultant will also identify planting opportunities, assess areas of tree decline, and evaluate stream health across six urban streams, including identifying invasive species, fish passage barriers, and ecological risks. This work will directly inform the development of an Urban Forestry Program and future Urban Forest Management Plan aligned with the City’s Comprehensive Plan and Critical Areas Ordinance. The assessment aims to provide data-driven insights for improving ecosystem health, enhancing urban forestry practices, and supporting climate resilience initiatives within the City.
