2026 Equitable Access to Credit Grant
The State of Washington Department of Commerce is soliciting applications for the 2026 Equitable Access to Credit Grant Program. This initiative is designed to expand access to capital for small businesses located in rural and historically underserved communities across Washington State. Through this program, eligible Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs), including emerging and certified entities, may receive grant funding to provide loans and investments that stimulate economic development. The program is funded through a tax credit mechanism that incentivizes contributions to support lending activities. Grant recipients may also allocate a limited portion of funds toward loan loss reserves, technical assistance, and small business training programs. The overarching goal is to strengthen local economies, improve financial inclusion, and promote equitable access to credit for disadvantaged populations while supporting sustainable business growth in rural regions.
