Animal Control and Sheltering Services
The City of Petaluma is seeking qualified contractors to provide comprehensive animal control and sheltering services. The selected contractor will be responsible for field services such as responding to animal-related complaints, enforcing municipal animal regulations, and handling emergency and non-emergency calls. Shelter services include housing, care, adoption, veterinary support, and humane treatment of animals, as well as implementing programs such as spay/neuter and rabies control. Administrative services encompass licensing, billing, reporting, public engagement, and compliance with public records requirements. The City is open to proposals that either utilize a City-owned facility or operate independently. The goal of this RFP is to ensure high-quality, humane, and efficient animal services for the community, with a focus on public safety, animal welfare, regulatory compliance, and operational transparency. The resulting contract is expected to begin in August 2026.
