Citywide Active Transportation Wayfinding Design
The City of Petaluma is seeking a qualified consulting firm to design a citywide active transportation wayfinding system. The project will develop signage templates, placement guidance, and a comprehensive plan identifying key destinations and routes for people walking, biking, and rolling. The consultant will create decision signs, confirmation signs, ground markings, and trailhead signage that provide distances, travel times, and navigational clarity across the city’s active transportation network. The scope also includes preparation of a citywide wayfinding plan with a hierarchy of destinations, as well as 100 percent bid‑ready construction plans and cost estimates for an initial implementation phase focused on priority bikeways and downtown connections. The effort is intended to maximize available grant funding and produce a scalable, easy‑to‑maintain system that supports accessibility, multilingual comprehension, and long‑term expansion of the network.
