Covelo Round Valley Safe Routes to School Project
Mendocino County Department of Transportation is seeking qualifications from professional engineering design firms to provide civil engineering, environmental clearance, and project development services for the Covelo/Round Valley Safe Routes to School Project. The federally funded Active Transportation Program project aims to improve pedestrian and bicyclist safety in the underserved Covelo community through the construction of sidewalks, curb and gutter improvements, ADA ramps, bike lanes, high-visibility crosswalks, signage, and related infrastructure enhancements. The selected consultant will support environmental compliance under the California Environmental Quality Act and National Environmental Policy Act, prepare plans, specifications, and estimates, coordinate permitting and regulatory approvals, conduct surveying and geotechnical investigations, and provide construction support services. The project is intended to enhance accessibility, improve safe routes for students and residents, and create stronger pedestrian connections between schools, residences, and community facilities while complying with Caltrans Local Assistance Procedures and federal transportation funding requirements.
