Engineering Services for Arc Flash Risk Assessment
The City of Santa Maria is seeking qualified engineering firms to conduct a comprehensive arc flash risk assessment across its water, wastewater, and stormwater facilities. The project involves evaluating electrical systems ranging from 120 volts to 12 kilovolts to determine safety risks, regulatory compliance, and equipment performance. Services include data collection, field verification, and development of updated single-line diagrams, along with electrical system modeling and analysis, such as short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies. The selected consultant will calculate incident energy levels, determine hazard boundaries, and provide labeling compliant with industry standards. Additional responsibilities include recommending personal protective equipment, improving system reliability, and optionally developing an Electrical Safety Program with training for City staff. The overall goal is to enhance worker safety, ensure compliance with applicable regulations, and improve the operational integrity of the City’s electrical infrastructure systems.
