Geotechnical Engineering Services for Cayucos Concrete Pavement and Stairs Repair

The County of San Luis Obispo Public Works Department is seeking a qualified geotechnical engineering firm to characterize existing subsurface conditions and provide design and construction recommendations for the Cayucos Concrete Pavement and Stairs Repair Project, located along Ocean Front near the Cayucos Pier. The project replaces concrete pavement subbase, concrete pedestrian pavement, stairway railings, and a concrete masonry site wall, repairs retaining walls, extends the foundation of an existing cantilevered storage building, replaces the curb, gutter, and sidewalk on the south side of the storage shed, and addresses ADA deficiencies. Repeated wave action washed sand from beneath the concrete, and pedestrian loading, self-weight, and wave-induced vibration then cracked and in places collapsed the slabs.
