Hearing Examiner Services
The City of Ilwaco is soliciting proposals from qualified licensed attorneys or firms to serve as the City’s Hearing Examiner. The selected individual or entity will oversee quasi-judicial land use hearings, including conditional use permits, variances, shoreline permits, site plan reviews, and preliminary plats. The role requires expertise in land use law, real property law, municipal code enforcement, and planning and development regulations. Responsibilities include conducting hearings, reviewing development proposals, ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws such as the State Environmental Policy Act and Shoreline Management Act, and issuing well-reasoned decisions within established timelines. The Hearing Examiner is also expected to coordinate with City staff, review project sites, manage hearing procedures impartially, and maintain accurate records.
