WHAT THEY WANT
(Summarized from the RFP)
The City of Bellingham is seeking proposals from attorneys and law firms with criminal court experience to form a pool of Conflict Public Defenders who provide legal defense to indigent defendants charged with misdemeanor or gross misdemeanor crimes. The City currently contracts with one law firm as its Public Defender and two law firms as Primary Conflict Public Defenders; the pool will handle cases that none of those contracted defenders can take because of a legal conflict of interest. Inclusion in the pool is not a guarantee of work, and cases are assigned individually at the discretion of the City's representative.
