Integrated Water Resource Management
Thurston County is soliciting qualifications and quotes from experienced consulting firms to support the development and implementation of a Countywide Integrated Water Management Program. The consultant will conduct a targeted audit of existing water-related policies, programs, and practices; facilitate interdepartmental and interagency coordination; and support engagement with tribal governments, watershed planning units, salmon recovery entities, and other regional stakeholders. The project includes compiling and analyzing data using best available science, identifying integration opportunities, conducting regional gaps analysis, and developing policy recommendations for incorporation into the County’s Comprehensive Plan. Deliverables include assessment and audit reports, engagement summaries, a One Water–aligned strategic framework, and a phased implementation roadmap. An optional scope may extend to watershed-scale planning for the Nisqually watershed, including scenario modeling and broader stakeholder facilitation. Work is grant-funded and scheduled through June 2027.
