Investigative Evidence and Administrative Towing Services
The City of Yakima Police Department is seeking proposals from qualified towing service providers to deliver investigative, evidence, and administrative towing services on an as-needed basis. The selected contractor will provide vehicle towing, impoundment, recovery, and secure storage services in support of law enforcement operations. Services include towing vehicles seized for investigative purposes, transporting police department vehicles, recovering stolen vehicles, and managing impounded vehicles associated with criminal investigations or administrative enforcement actions. Contractors must maintain appropriate licensing as a Registered Tow Truck Operator and comply with Washington State regulations governing towing and impoundment. The contractor must also provide secure storage facilities capable of maintaining vehicles as evidence, including long-term indoor or outdoor storage under controlled access. Additional responsibilities include timely response to police dispatch requests, maintaining equipment and trained personnel, releasing vehicles to authorized individuals, and ensuring proper documentation and compliance with applicable state laws and administrative codes. The City intends to award a contract to a qualified provider capable of reliably supporting law enforcement operations and maintaining secure evidence handling procedures.
