Laguna Flood Resilience Study
The City of Santa Barbara is seeking a qualified consultant to conduct a comprehensive Laguna Flood Resilience Study focused on improving understanding and management of flood risks within the Laguna Watershed. The project involves developing a detailed watershed drainage model, verifying and enhancing existing stormwater GIS data, and analyzing both current and future flood risks considering climate change and sea level rise. The selected consultant will evaluate storm events of varying intensities and identify vulnerabilities affecting infrastructure, residential, and commercial areas. The study will also include identifying and prioritizing adaptation strategies such as storm drain improvements, pump station and tide gate upgrades, and green infrastructure solutions. Additionally, the consultant will assess the effectiveness and costs of proposed mitigation measures and support long-term planning efforts, including integration into a future citywide drainage master plan. The project aims to reduce flooding impacts and improve resilience in vulnerable communities and critical infrastructure areas.
