Main McVay Locally Preferred Transit Solution South A Transportation Study
The City of Springfield is seeking a qualified transportation planning consultant to conduct the South A Street Transportation Study along the corridor extending from the Glenwood roundabout to South 18th Street. The purpose of this project is to evaluate current transportation conditions and develop a coordinated strategy to improve safety, mobility, and multimodal access along the corridor. South A Street currently functions as a fast-moving three-lane roadway that serves a high volume of vehicles as well as Lane Transit District’s Route 11, one of the region’s busiest bus routes. However, existing infrastructure presents challenges for pedestrians, cyclists, and transit users due to narrow bike lanes, constrained sidewalks, and limited pedestrian amenities. The selected consultant will assess existing conditions, analyze safety issues, examine travel patterns, and evaluate future transportation needs. The study will include technical transportation analysis, corridor planning, and robust community engagement to gather stakeholder input. The final deliverable will identify feasible multimodal transportation solutions and provide recommendations and implementation strategies that support safer travel, improved connectivity, and a more balanced transportation network for the South A Street corridor.
