Medical, Pharmacy, and Stop Loss Coverage Administrative Services
The City of Tacoma is soliciting proposals from qualified vendors to administer its self-insured medical and pharmacy benefits program, including stop loss coverage administration. The selected administrator will support approximately 3,824 employees and retirees, covering nearly 9,888 total members including dependents. Services include medical and pharmacy claims administration, network management, customer service, case management, health management programs, funding and reporting, and optional administration of health savings accounts, limited dental and vision benefits for certain retiree groups, and self-pay retiree dependents. The City seeks a vendor capable of delivering competitive pricing, strong provider networks, effective claims processing, performance guarantees, and high-quality member services. Respondents must demonstrate financial competitiveness, operational excellence, domestic customer service operations, and the ability to align strategically with the City’s long-term benefits objectives. The initial contract term is six years, with an option to renew for an additional six-year period.
