Mendocino State Route 128 Flood and Feasibility Study
The California Department of Transportation is seeking qualified consultants to conduct a comprehensive flood and feasibility study for a vulnerable segment of State Route 128 in Mendocino County. The study focuses on assessing and mitigating risks associated with climate-related impacts, such as sea-level rise, storm surge, and riverine flooding. The selected consultant will evaluate current roadway conditions, including damage from heavy rainfall, erosion, and landslides, and develop adaptation strategies such as retreat, protection, and accommodation. The project includes hydrological analysis, coastal hazards assessment, feasibility evaluations, and identification of design alternatives to enhance infrastructure resilience. Additionally, the consultant will incorporate stakeholder engagement, environmental considerations, and compliance with relevant coastal policies. The ultimate goal is to improve long-term transportation access, reduce vulnerability to climate stressors, and provide actionable recommendations for sustainable infrastructure planning.
