New Area Agency on Aging
The State of California Department of Aging is seeking proposals from qualified public agencies or nonprofit organizations to serve as the designated Area Agency on Aging (AAA) for Planning and Service Area 17, covering San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties. The selected contractor will provide leadership, planning, and oversight for programs funded under Title III of the Older Americans Act and the Older Californians Act. Responsibilities include administering the Area Plan, coordinating community-based services, and managing fiscal and programmatic oversight of services for older adults and caregivers. Key service areas include supportive services such as case management, transportation, and legal assistance; congregate and home-delivered nutrition programs; health promotion initiatives; caregiver support services; and elder rights programs including ombudsman and abuse prevention activities. The selected organization must demonstrate strong administrative and fiscal capacity, the ability to coordinate services across multiple partners, and experience managing federal and state aging services programs. The goal is to ensure continuous delivery of comprehensive services that support the independence, well-being, and safety of older adults and caregivers throughout the region.
