Older Americans Ombudsman Initiative
The County of Kern Aging and Adult Services Department is seeking qualified public, nonprofit, or for-profit organizations to provide ombudsman and elder support services under the Older Americans Act. The selected provider will deliver programs funded under Title III and Title VII, including long-term care ombudsman services, elder abuse prevention, and supportive services for older adults. The initiative is designed to protect the rights, safety, and well-being of seniors, particularly those residing in long-term care facilities or facing social and economic challenges. Services will focus on advocacy, case management, outreach, and support activities that promote independence, dignity, and quality of life for older residents. The contract will initially cover one fiscal year, with the option to renew for a second year, and the successful proposer will begin services on July 1, 2026. The program supports the County’s broader aging services plan and aims to provide coordinated, consumer-oriented services for vulnerable older adults throughout Kern County.
