WHAT THEY WANT
(Summarized from the RFP)
The Port of Long Beach is seeking qualified consultants to provide on-call strategic media consulting and crisis communication services. The Port operates in a highly visible and complex environment where operational, environmental, public safety, commercial, and community matters can generate significant public and media interest. Emerging issues, high-profile events, major initiatives, and emergency situations can require the Port to communicate quickly and strategically while keeping information timely, accurate, coordinated, and consistent. Although the Port maintains internal communications capabilities, the complexity and unpredictable nature of its needs call for specialized expertise and added capacity beyond day-to-day communications.

HOW TO SUBMIT
Proposals must be submitted electronically through the Port's PlanetBids vendor portal (https://pbsystem.planetbids.com/portal/19236/portal-home); firms must be registered in the portal to view documents and submit. Submit six separate files: the Narrative Proposal (PDF, no longer than 15 pages, 8.5 x 11 inch pages with one-inch minimum margins, excluding the cover page, table of contents, resumes, work samples and attachments), the Rate Sheet (Microsoft Excel, on the Attachment D template), the signed Background and Contractor Certification Form (PDF), and the SBE-2P Commitment Plan (PDF), plus a W-9 and proof of Secretary of State registration, which are encouraged with the proposal and required of awardees before contract execution. Questions go through the Q&A tab in PlanetBids. Do not include insurance documentation. Late proposals and proposals sent by any other channel are not accepted, and a proposal still uploading at the deadline is rejected. If an addendum is issued after submission, the proposal is invalidated until the firm acknowledges the addendum in PlanetBids and resubmits.
