WHAT THEY WANT
(Summarized from the RFP)
Alameda County, through its Behavioral Health Care Department, is seeking a contractor to run a pharmacy benefit management program for patients with serious and persistent mental illness. The county-operated system of care serves roughly 50,000 patients a year through community support centers and contracted community-based organizations. The contractor would administer coverage for prescriptions written for uninsured patients and those in the Health Program of Alameda County behavioral health specialty service, and for Medi-Cal clients with a denied prior authorization or unmet share of cost, plus Medicare Part D co-pays, non-formulary drugs and denied appeals. It would also manage use of manufacturer patient assistance programs and the federal 340B drug purchasing program.
