Portneuf Watershed Restoration Planning
The City of Pocatello is seeking a qualified consultant to develop a comprehensive watershed restoration plan for a segment of the Portneuf River extending from Sacajawea Park to the railroad bridge near the Simplot property. The project focuses on assessing current watershed and river conditions, including hydrologic, geomorphic, and ecological characteristics, and producing a detailed implementation plan for restoration. Work includes site surveys, historic channel analysis, hydrologic and geotechnical investigations, vegetation and habitat restoration planning, bank stabilization design, sediment transport evaluation, and floodplain connectivity improvements. The consultant will prioritize restoration treatments, prepare cost estimates, and develop a three-year monitoring and maintenance plan. The project also aims to enhance water quality, reduce sedimentation, improve riparian and aquatic habitat for trout and other species, and support recreational and community use. Optional tasks include concept drawings, permitting support, and bid package preparation.
