Professional Counseling Services
The County of San Mateo Sheriff’s Office is seeking proposals from qualified vendors to provide comprehensive professional counseling services for sworn and non‑sworn personnel. The selected contractor will deliver confidential mental health services designed to support employee wellness, resilience, and operational readiness in a high‑stress public safety environment. Services will include short‑term counseling sessions for employees exposed to critical incidents, trauma, and operational stress, as well as optional counseling for approved family members. The contractor must provide crisis and critical incident response, on‑site clinical support, and virtual counseling availability. Additional responsibilities include conducting departmental training related to mental health and wellness and participating in employee and family outreach initiatives. The counseling program must maintain strict confidentiality while coordinating administrative processes for extended sessions and family services. Through this contract, the Sheriff’s Office aims to strengthen workforce well‑being, reduce the impacts of trauma associated with law enforcement work, and maintain a resilient and healthy workforce capable of serving the community effectively.
