WHAT THEY WANT
(Summarized from the RFP)
The City of Bellingham is seeking a law firm or group of attorneys to provide public defense services for indigent defendants in Bellingham Municipal Court. The contractor would represent people who cannot afford counsel through final disposition of gross misdemeanor and misdemeanor cases assigned by the Municipal Court Judge, including bench or jury trials, and would remain counsel for up to one year when a defendant is placed on probation supervision. Representation also continues through completion of jail time when a defendant seeks a temporary release to treatment after sentencing.
