Sole Source Posting For Healthcare Worker Training And Advancement Services
The State of Washington Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board intends to award a sole source contract to the Service Employees International Union Healthcare 1199 Northwest Multi-Employer Training Fund to provide workforce development services for healthcare workers pursuing career advancement. The contract will support apprenticeships, certifications, classroom instruction, hands-on training, and professional development across a range of healthcare occupations. Services include counseling, career navigation, tutoring, tuition assistance, childcare support, instructor-mentor training, technology and materials, travel reimbursement, and benefits administration. The initiative is authorized under the 2026–2027 Washington State Operating Budget and builds upon a successful pilot program during the 2023–2025 biennium. The goal is to expand access to career ladder opportunities leading to living-wage jobs, particularly for racially diverse workers in high-demand healthcare fields. The initial fifteen-month contract may be extended up to two additional twenty-four-month terms, subject to legislative funding.
