WHAT THEY WANT
(Summarized from the RFP)
CalRecycle, California's Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery, is seeking a contractor to study whether beverage manufacturers can achieve the state's minimum postconsumer recycled (PCR) plastic content standards for plastic beverage containers. Under Public Resources Code Section 14547, containers subject to California Redemption Value must contain, on average, 15 percent PCR plastic, rising to 25 percent and then 50 percent. The Director may adjust those standards downward after review, and this multi-year study will supply the evidence behind that decision.
