WHAT THEY WANT
(Summarized from the RFP)
The City of Downey is seeking a qualified traffic engineering consultant to prepare the environmental clearance and full engineering design for the Firestone Boulevard Traffic Signal Upgrades Project, City Capital Improvement Project 20-12. The project grew out of the City's Local Roadway Safety Plan, which analyzed collision data from 2015 through 2024 to identify high-frequency and fatal or severe-injury locations, pedestrian and bicycle crash trends, and crash types that can be mitigated. In February 2025 the City was awarded $1,415,880 in federal Highway Safety Improvement Program Cycle 12 funds for the corridor, and construction funding is programmed in the Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Capital Improvement Program.
